EMF-ECBC Publishes 2026 Edition of Hypostat, Highlighting Housing Affordability

The European Mortgage Federation (EMF) has published the 2026 edition of Hypostat, its annual statistical publication providing comprehensive data and analysis on recent developments in housing and mortgage markets across Europe and beyond.
This year’s edition places a particular focus on housing affordability, a key issue on the policy agenda in Europe and globally. The publication examines the latest market developments and provides valuable insights into the evolving housing and mortgage landscape.
The 2026 edition, covering data through the end of 2025, presents information and analysis for 31 European countries — the EU27, Iceland, Norway, Switzerland and the United Kingdom — as well as nine additional countries: Australia, Canada, Brazil, Japan, Russia, Singapore, South Korea, Türkiye and the United States.
For the first time, Hypostat also features contributions from members of the EMF-ECBC’s International Secondary Mortgage Market Association (ISMMA). These contributions provide a comparative view of secondary mortgage markets across a number of non-EU economies, further broadening the publication’s international perspective.
The publication comes at an important time for discussions around housing affordability and access to housing. Hypostat 2026 is being released ahead of the Global Affordable Housing Conference, which the EMF-ECBC is co-organising with the World Bank Group in Brussels this December.
FIABCI welcomes the publication of this year’s Hypostat, which contributes to a deeper understanding of housing and mortgage market developments and supports informed dialogue among stakeholders across the international real estate sector.
