Assen Makedonov installed as World President of Global Real Estate Federation

Dubaï, May 2^nd, 2018 — Assen Makedonov, a property professional from Bulgaria, assumed the position of World President for FIABCI, the International Real Estate Federation, during an official ceremony at the 69th FIABCI World Congress, held in Dubai, April 27 – May 2.

Mr. Makedonov is a partner of B&H Real Estate in Sofia, Bulgaria. B&H Real Estate was one of the first Bulgarian real estate firms to operate on a national scale, providing brokerage, legal, property management and valuation services. It is a founding member of the National Association of Real Estate Agencies (NREA) in Bulgaria, as well as the Bulgarian chapter of FIABCI.

Assen Makedonov holds a master’s degree in economics and has more than 30 years’ experience in the international trade, travel and real estate industries, including brokerage, development, investment and management. He holds the Certified International Property Specialist (CIPS), Transnational Referral Certified (TRC), and the Certified Luxury Home Marketing Specialist (CLHMS) professional designations. In association with the CLHMS designation, Makedonov achieved Million Dollar GUILD status, which recognizes high performance in luxury markets around the world.

Active in organized real estate for more than a decade, Mr. Makedonov served as a member of the Board of FIABCI-Bulgaria from 2007 to 2015, and as its President in 2013‐2014.

At the international level, he has served on the Board of FIABCI since 2015. In 2015-2016, he served as President of the Strategic Planning Committee and in 2016-2017, as President of the Finance Committee. In 2017-2018 he served as President Elect, representing FIABCI at the United Nations.

As World President, Mr. Makedonov plans to build upon the strategic initiatives of his immediate predecessors, which are tied to the organization’s Vision 2020 and lay the foundation for taking the organization to the next step by identifying core objectives to align with a Vision 2030.

“FIABCI must continually focus on future goals if we want to grow and provide our members with the global business services they need,” said Mr. Makedonov. “Now is the time to finalize the implementation of Vision 2020 and to begin thinking about Vision 2030.”

Among the core goals for his presidency are: to increase membership and form new national and regional chapters, to strengthen cooperation with allied world organizations such as the World Bank, International Monetary Fund and UN-Habitat, to raise the profile of FIABCI through its newly enhanced website and member portal, www.fiabic.org.

“Along with working to strengthen our standing and influence in the global real estate community, I will focus on providing FIABCI members with the services they need to do business worldwide,” continued Makedonov. “Supporting our members’ business interests is a core part of FIABCI’s mission. I look forward to working with other FIABCI leaders to advance our members’ opportunities in the global property market.”

Assen Makedonov succeeds Farook Mahmood from FIABCI-India in the position of the FIABCI World President. Walid Moussa from FIABCI-Arabic Countries was confirmed as President Elect during the World Congress in Dubai and will assume the office of President for the 2019-2020 term.
