The Department of Business Administration was created in 1965 within the Economic Sciences Department and became a separate department in 1986. More than 4000 managers have since graduated, thereby constituting a precious pool of human resources, trained both in the ‘Externado’ spirit and in its academic excellence. The Management Development Department was created in 1988 to respond to a need for cooperation between education and business and began offering a course on ‘Managing small and medium-sized companies’. In 1990 the department signed an agreement with Fedelonjas and created the ‘Managing Business and Real Estate Projects’ course, with the objective of professionalizing the real estate sector.
