The Flemish Agency for Entrepreneurial Training – SYNTRA Flanders (Vlaams Agentschap voor Ondernemersvorming – SYNTRA Vlaanderen) is a Flemish governmental organisation and is part of the Flemish ministry of Work and also linked to the Flemish ministry of Education and Training.
SYNTRA Flanders coordinates vocational training for future as well as settled independent entrepreneurs and their staff (SME-focused) and works towards more and better entrepreneurship, in particular in cooperation with the SYNTRA training network. The Agency is also a Flemish hub for “Entrepreneurial Training” aiming at creating more and better entrepreneurs and stimulating entrepreneurial culture within education in general.
The SYNTRA-network consists in 5 regional umbrella organisations with in totally 23 training centres. Each regional organisation is recognized and (partially) subsidised by the Agency.
The SYNTRA-network course offer is based on three fundamental principles:
- offering continuing education with successive levels and opportunities;
- the alternating learning system in which study is alternated with work (dual system ‘learning and working’);
- the modular, competence based, organisation of the course offer, in which one can compose one’s own programme according to one’s personal level and training needs (trajectory-approach).
