Monumental Sculpture in the Heart of the City !
This outdoor cultural centre is located in down town Chicago , Illinois . Covering over 25 acres, The Millennium Park is an unprecedented centre for world-class art, music, architecture and landscape design. You can experience everything from interactive public art and ice skating to al fresco dining, dance performances and free classical concerts.
The City of Chicago and the private sector came together to define their vision of architecture, monumental sculpture and landscape design to transform an old unsightly train terminal.
Design icons include the Jay Pritzker Pavilion, an outdoor concert venue which caters for a 150 member chorus and a 4000 seated audience. A pedestrian bridge, clad in stainless steel panels with a hardwood deck provides wonderful views of the city as well as acting as an acoustic barrier between the audience and the traffic.
The Cloud Gate, a 110 ton mirror finished stainless steel large scale sculpture, reflects the lights and activity of the park and the surrounding city skyline.
The interactive "Crown" fountain features two facing towers between a pool of water, activated with changing video images, lights and cascading water.
Other amenities include an ice rink, a 300 seat park grill restaurant and a new 1,500 seat venue for the Chicago Music and Dance Theatre.
The development of Millennium Park is a testament to the extraordinary cooperation between public and private entities working together towards a great vision, creating design icons of a standard never seen before.
